Rain Under Water?

We heard from Twitter that Rain Sushi has been closed this week. We tried their phone number, but it's been "temporarily disconnected". According to some folks who have walked by, the sign in the door says they are temporarily closed due to a water leak, but it's not clear how long that will last (one Twitterer said she's been by three days this week, and they've been closed each time). It's bad timing: they just sold over 2,000 coupons through Groupon…

From 5 - 9 pm tonight, Friday, CurryNow, Barriga Llena and Buns will be setting up shop in the lot in front…

La Figa

He wanted to drizzle over the naked bodies of some friends and take pictures. We didn't end up giving him any, not for any prudish reasons, rather just plain laziness. It's a shame, because the book of photos that he and Matt Freedman created, La Figa: Visions of Food and Form, is a truly…

Hot off the Twitter: "Hungry? Stop by our Seattle storefront around 11 AM for a free fluffernutter." - @archiemcphee Wha-wha? We called Archie McPhee (1300 N. 45th St) to find out what that meant. "There's some people coming in for a photo shoot, then they'll be handing out fluffernutter sandwiches," we were told. But who? And why? Several phone calls later, the mystery was as thick as processed sandwich spread. We left messages, but we can't promise we'll know in time.…

Tales of a Female Nomad

Rachel Duboff, the chef behind the Wallingford Community Kitchen events, just dropped us a line about a special and unusual happening this month: I had the chance to spend last summer in Italy. As a going away gift a friend gave me the book, Tales of a Female Nomad. I consumed it as though it spoke directly to me.  A few months later, I learned of a new book that Rita had written, Female Nomad & Friends: Tales of Breaking Fee…
