Smash Wine Bar and Bistro is offering a great deal through the Green Lake Moms / Wallyhood Deal Coop: $25 for $50 worth of food and drink! The usual restrictions apply (e..g, can't be used for Happy Hour pricing), but $25 off this great little restaurant is not to be missed. We had an interesting conversation with Dana Hannon, Smash's owner, about the relative merits of the coupon sites when we were setting this up and it was good to hear that…

Local, Organic Produce Delivered to Wallingford

The fate of the Wallingford Farmers Market remains in doubt. Whole Foods (aka "Whole Paycheck") recently capitulated to Monsanto's drive to genetically engineer pesticides into our food supply. What's a lefty, organic-food-lovin' locavore to do? Go CSA, of course! CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture) are farms or groups that will deliver (mostly) locally grown produce to you on a regular basis based on what's in season. "Barnett rejected the First Amendment argument that was central to the defense by Jiggles’ owner Bob Davis ... As long as its…

Two notes from the blotter. Jeff Garfield at Bedrooms and More dropped us a frustrated note about graffiti that had appeared on his vans and building last Saturday, Feb 25th: Our brand new truck parked in the locked and gated lot by our store was painted. The parking garage under Wine World was also hit along with others places. We need the community's help in apprehending the person(s) responsible for tagging our truck which was parked at the the vacant lot…

Roosevelt High School

Continuing our series of schools within the Wallingford attendance area, here's a look at Roosevelt High School. Roosevelt High School (1410 NE 66th St.) is located in the Roosevelt neighborhood, just a block north of 65th and Roosevelt.  We include it in our school series because it is our attendance area high school; however, for those 8th graders in the Advanced Placement Program (APP) at Hamilton International Middle School, a new APP program will begin at Ingraham High School in September…
