Dick’s Celebrates 57 Years

Here's a little bit of trivia: The first Dick's Drive-in opened on 45th Street right here in Wallingford during a snowstorm on January 25, 1954. A few days later, after the snow melted, they had a re-grand opening on January 28. To celebrate 57 years of flippin' burgers, Dick's is offering 2-for-1 burgers (cheeseburger or regular hamburger) on Tuesday (1/25), between 2-6:30 pm. Buy one cheeseburger or hamburger and get one free (limit 3 free burgers per customer); and on Friday…

Gardening Galore

Sure, summertime may seem like it's forever away, but honestly, our money says that you'll start to see the crocuses poking their purple little heads up by the end of next month. It's time to start thinking about that summer garden, so here's something to get you in the mood. Liza over at Seattle Tilth tells us there's a host of volunteer and internship opportunities open and waiting for you. 520, Tolling, and “Transportation Choices”

SDOT is planning to finally stick it to 520 commuters this spring, to the proposed tune of $7 per day for peak commutes.  Unfortunately, the Valhalla I fervently wished for was eliminated as an option, as they also plan to nail carpoolers- you know, those little buses that run for free. My interpretation is that carpoolers lack for a lobby that can push their point of view. They also aren’t extreme enough for either political party to pander to (Cars Bad!…

Wallingford Farmers Market Options

This past Wednesday, the Farmers Market association presented the options under consideration for placement of the Wallingford Farmers Market, which can not continue at Wallingford Center. Sadly, we were not there to enjoy the discussion. Fortunately, though, Zach Lyons from the Farmers Market Association e-mailed us the list of sites under consideration. They are: Lincoln High School lots (green): This is parking lot behind the Tilth, Smash, the Chili Pepper, etc. This seems like the best option to us, as it…
