It sounds like a children's story doesn't it? Maybe someday it will be, the touching story of two designs, painted on intersections in a little neighborhood called Wallingford. The Ladybug up at 49th and Burke is getting some company this weekend: a group of neighbors led by Bill Lindberg around Interlake Ave N and N 41st St will be painting a turtle designed by Rachel Marcotte in their intersection. Studio Sale

Wallingford-based artists Janusz Pozniak, Rachel Rader, Michelle Rak and Heather Kraft are opening up their studio this Saturday and Sunday for a sale. Their work includes glass, jewelry, accessories and the like. Some photos of their work in the flier at right, or stop by their studio at 4136 Meridian Ave N Saturday and Sunday, August 28th and 29th from 10 am - 7 pm to see it all life size.

46th Street Mural Dedication

Now that was fast!  The 46th Street Mural will be dedicated on Friday, August 27th. In April, the City announced that the Fremont/Wallingford 46th Street Mural Project would be funded through the Small and Simple Projects Fund: This project will build community and improve the cityscape by constructing a lasting mural to brighten this underpass, used by thousands of cars and many pedestrians every day.  It will create a neighborhood identification linking upper Fremont and Wallingford and deter crime and graffiti…

Corporate Graffiti

Monday, we noted that the police have arrested a man accused of tagging Wallingford and many other neighborhoods with a spraypainted "Zeb". We've always had a bit of short-fuse for tagging, a form of graffiti in which the practitioner spraypaints or marks his name over huge numbers of pieces of private property.
