A reader tells us that her car had been stolen in front of her house last night on NE 59th St. in Tangletown, between Latona Avenue NE and 5th Avenue NE. The stolen car is a 2003 orange Honda Element with a Kirkland Lacrosse sticker on the lower left corner of rear window. A police report has been filed, but in the off-chance that someone spots the car, please let us know.

Helicopter Activity Over Wallingford

If you were in the neighborhood around noontime, you probably heard a few helicopters circling around eastern Wallingford. Reader Richard was kind enough to send us this picture: Turns out, there was an armed robbery today at the Wells Fargo at the 4100 block of University Avenue in the U-District, which was confirmed by our neighborhood police contact, Terrie Johnston. A UW alert on Twitter described the suspect as a white male, in his 40s, 6 feet tall with a medium…

Arrest at Bartell’s

So, I was walking to my weekly pickup frisbee game around noon yesterday, and as I was passing QFC there were two men with about 20 EMTs tending to them. I stopped to talk with another man at the bus stop about what happened, and two more city police pulled up and began to arrest the men, but I was late for my game and went on my way. Checking the police reports now, the incident has been classified under "Mental…

We got this disturbing note from a reader yesterday. Forewarned is forearmed. Today I walked across the west lawn at The Good Shepherd and when about half across a man from about 30 feet away spoke loudly to me. He complimented me on my bright-colored coat. He caught up with me and I explained I bought it at Value Village. I expected him to move on but as I walked north across the grass he followed beside and kept talking and…

A spokesperson from Key Bank verified this and said there were no weapons involved and the suspect was apprehended near Meridian. A would-be bank robber was apprehended today (Tuesday, October 4) in Wallingford, according to the SPD Blotter: On October 4th at approximately 10:40 a.m. officers responded to a bank robbery in the 1700…

Smash and Grabs at the QFC

UPDATE 9/9:  Terrie Johnston, the North Precinct Crime Prevention Coordinator with the Seattle Police Department, got back to me after this post was published.  She has a theory as to why the images have not yet been obtained by SPD and will investigate further.  But she wants us to know that SPD will gladly take evidence of crime in the neighborhood.  I'll be working behind the scenes to connect her with Tina or the QFC team.  Hopefully, SPD will have some…

Again, not with the "aah, crime! aaah, crime!" sensationalism, but when we hear about patterns, it's worth making sure people are aware. Jake N. wrote: In broad daylight, we were parked at the entrance to Meridian Playground, East side of Street facing North, between N 48th Street and N 49th Street.  We were in the park for less than 2 hours and when coming back to vehicle, found the rear passenger window broken in and our purse stolen.  Between 1:30 -…
