Drunk driver takes out cars on Thackeray Pl.

Wallyhood reader Andrew wrote to tell us this bit of bad news from Wednesday night: On Thackeray Pl., north of 45th St., mine and my neighbor's car were both hit by a drunk driver. I was asleep at the time, and was woken up by a roommate, around 10:30, after the incident. My car got a good scrape on the passenger side, largely bad comestic. The drunk driver proceeded straight into the right front fender/headlight area of the car, knocking it back…

Package theft

Ugh, this is no good. Joan writes: Hey Wallyhood - just thought we'd put the word out that a package was stolen off our porch yesterday afternoon. The mailman said this has happened to others in Wallingford as well, so might be a good idea to be on alert and extra careful with leaving things out and about, and also to help out your neighbors by noticing any suspicious behavior. This is nothing new, really (see Lurker Lurking, Package Stealing from…

A UW alert on Twitter described the suspect as a white male, in his 40s, 6 feet tall with a medium…

I stopped to talk with another man at the bus stop about what happened, and two more city police pulled up and began to arrest the men, but I was late for my game and went on my way. Checking the police reports now, the incident has been classified under "Mental…

We got this disturbing note from a reader yesterday. Forewarned is forearmed. Today I walked across the west lawn at The Good Shepherd and when about half across a man from about 30 feet away spoke loudly to me. He complimented me on my bright-colored coat. He caught up with me and I explained I bought it at Value Village. I expected him to move on but as I walked north across the grass he followed beside and kept talking and…
